A tragic mass shooting in Atlanta’s Sweet Auburn neighborhood claimed the life of 27-year-old Santos Wyatt in the early hours of Monday, July 28, 2025. The shooting occurred just before 1:30 a.m. outside 349 Edgewood Avenue SE, a popular area lined with bars and nightlife.
According to the Atlanta Police Department, a total of 11 people were shot, including Wyatt, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The 10 other victims, aged between 18 and 29, were rushed to Grady Hospital, where they are recovering. One 18-year-old male victim remains in critical condition, while the others are reported to be stable.
Authorities say the gunfire came from four suspects—three men and one woman—on foot. Investigators are still working to determine what led to the violence and have not yet released information on possible motives.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum addressed the public, stating the investigation remains ongoing and that law enforcement is working tirelessly to bring the perpetrators to justice.
