A tragic two-vehicle collision in northern Jefferson County on Wednesday afternoon has claimed the life of a 62-year-old man.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Gale Dewayne Johnson of Arley, Alabama. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 2:34 p.m. along Snowville Brent Road near Highway 78.
Authorities say Johnson was driving one of the vehicles involved in the collision. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but despite their efforts, Johnson was pronounced dead at 3:01 p.m.
The circumstances leading up to the crash remain unclear. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation, with its Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team working to determine the cause of the deadly incident.
