DYER COUNTY, TN – July 31, 2025 — The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has launched an intensive investigation following a harrowing shooting that unfolded around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday afternoon in the Middle City Community, a residential area situated west of Dyersburg. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the quiet neighborhood on Lyte Circle, has left a 19-year-old Angela Hale female victim critically injured and a 19-year-old male Craig Bolden suspect in custody.
Authorities swiftly identified and apprehended Craig Bolden, a 19-year-old Black male, who is now facing a charge of Attempted First Degree Murder in connection with the shooting. Law enforcement officials responded to the scene shortly after reports of gunfire emerged, where they discovered the female victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. Due to the severity of her condition, she was airlifted to a Level One Trauma Center for emergency treatment.
At the time of the incident, several witnesses were reportedly inside the residence, and investigators have been diligently working to piece together the events leading up to the violent encounter. Although full details have yet to be released, officials have confirmed that this was a domestic-related incident, further emphasizing the personal and tragic nature of the case.
Sheriff Jeff Box, speaking on behalf of the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, expressed the deep concern and commitment of his department.
“This is a sad day for the victim and her family,” said Sheriff Box. “We are committed to a fair and thorough investigation into this tragic domestic incident. We appreciate the cooperation of the community and encourage anyone with additional information to come forward. Please remember this young victim in your prayers.”
The investigation remains active, and Sheriff Box noted that additional charges may be forthcoming as authorities continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses. Officials have underscored the importance of community assistance in such matters, and residents are being urged to contact law enforcement with any relevant details that may help the case.
Importantly, the Sheriff’s Office clarified that this incident is not connected to the ongoing quadruple homicide investigation in Lake County or the manhunt for suspect Austin Robert Drummond, which has gained significant media attention in recent days. Sheriff Box stressed that while both investigations are serious and unfolding simultaneously, they are entirely unrelated.
The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office has opened its tip line to the public. Anyone with information that could aid in the investigation is strongly encouraged to reach out by calling 731-285-2802.
As the investigation unfolds, the community is being reminded of the fragility of life and the devastating impact of domestic violence. Support services are being made available to those affected by the incident, and local authorities are working closely with victim advocacy groups to ensure the young woman and her family receive the care and support they need during this critical time.
This tragic event serves as a sobering reminder of the work still needed to address violence in our communities, especially among youth and within domestic settings. The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to justice and public safety as they move forward with the investigation.
