A tragic head-on collision involving a livestock trailer claimed the lives of five people in Burnet County on the evening of Friday, July 25. All five victims, who were traveling in the Malibu, tragically lost their lives in the crash. They have been identified as Thalia Salinas, Ruby Cruz, Brianna Valadez, Desiree Cervantez, and Jacqueline Velazco.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the crash occurred on U.S. Highway 281 near Park Road when a northbound 2018 RAM 4500 truck, which was towing a livestock trailer, veered into the southbound lanes. The truck collided head-on with a Chevrolet Malibu, then continued in motion and struck a Mercedes SUV that had been traveling behind the Malibu. The truck caught fire following the impact, resulting in a devastating scene and multiple fatalities.

First responders arrived quickly, but the violent impact and subsequent fire left little that could be done to save the victims. The crash is currently under investigation by DPS as authorities work to determine what caused the truck to cross into oncoming traffic.

This devastating accident has left a deep mark on the Burnet County community, as family, friends, and loved ones mourn the loss of five lives taken far too soon.

Further details, including the condition of the truck driver and occupants of the Mercedes SUV, have not yet been released.

Our thoughts are with the families and communities grieving this unimaginable loss.
