A fatal crash involving three vehicles early Friday morning has left one woman dead and another facing multiple charges in Laurel County.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded just after midnight to a collision on American Greeting Card Road. Investigators say 45-year-old Kimberly Hedrick was driving an SUV when she crossed the center line and struck a car head-on, driven by 67-year-old Benita Vickers.

The force of the impact pushed Hedrick’s SUV into a second SUV, driven by David Wynn. The collision caused Hedrick’s vehicle to go airborne before crashing into a guardrail.

Vickers was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Two passengers in Wynn’s vehicle were also hospitalized with injuries.

Authorities report that Wynn fled the scene before deputies arrived. He is currently wanted on multiple outstanding warrants, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Hedrick was also taken to the hospital but sustained only minor injuries. Deputies noted she smelled of alcohol, had slurred speech, and later admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel. She is now in custody at the Laurel County Correctional Center and faces multiple charges, including DUI and vehicular-related offenses.
