The crash occurred around 10:15 p.m. on Saturday near the intersection of Gallatin Pike and Twin Hills Drive. Parson was riding a Kawasaki Ninja when he collided with a Honda Pilot. Metro Nashville Police confirmed that Parson was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, the driver of the Honda Pilot was attempting a left turn onto Gallatin Pike from the Target parking lot when the accident happened. Investigators are looking into whether Parson’s speed may have affected the driver’s ability to see the motorcycle.
Friends who had been with Parson at a nearby restaurant arrived at the scene and told police that he appeared impaired prior to the crash and that they had tried to take his keys to prevent him from riding.
No signs of impairment have been found in the Honda driver, but investigators are reviewing whether the driver failed to yield the right of way. The investigation is ongoing.
