Authorities have identified the man who drowned in Clinton Lake on Saturday night as 45-year-old Kyle Bounds of Hudson, Illinois, according to DeWitt County Coroner Randy J. Rice.

Bounds was pronounced dead shortly after 8:00 p.m., following a drowning incident at the popular recreational site. The circumstances leading to the drowning have not yet been fully released, and the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
Following the incident, the Weldon Boat Ramp was closed temporarily, and boat traffic was redirected to the Clinton Lake Marina ramp. However, officials have not confirmed whether the closure was directly related to Bounds’ death.
This marks a somber moment for the community and serves as a reminder of the potential dangers that exist even during recreational outings on the water.
No further details have been released at this time. Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to contact the DeWitt County Sheriff’s Office.
