Authorities have confirmed the identity of the motorcyclist who lost his life in a collision on Route 35 in Keyport late Thursday night as Robert A. Cappa, a 36-year-old resident of Parlin, New Jersey.
The fatal accident occurred around 10 p.m. near the Stop & Shop, according to the Keyport Police Department. Cappa was reportedly traveling northbound when the crash took place. He was transported to a local hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. Police confirmed that he had been wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
According to his obituary, Robert was a devoted husband and the proud father of two children. He was known for his dedication to his family and leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Funeral arrangements have not yet been publicly announced.
This devastating crash marks the second fatal motorcycle accident this month on Route 35 north in Keyport. On July 4, a 26-year-old man from Woodbridge was also killed in a collision near the Seaboard Marine repair shop.
The investigation into the cause of Thursday’s crash remains ongoing.
