A horrifying scene unfolded Monday afternoon at a Midtown Manhattan skyscraper, where three people — including an off-duty NYPD officer were shot and killed, according to law enforcement sources.

The deadly shooting occurred at 345 Park Avenue, a high-profile office tower that houses major corporate offices including Blackstone and the NFL headquarters. The building remains on lockdown, and police have urged the public to avoid the area around East 52nd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues due to ongoing police activity.

According to sources, the off-duty NYPD officer had been working a private security detail for a company located in the building when the gunman, armed with a long gun, entered the premises and opened fire. The officer was fatally shot at the scene.

Authorities say at least two other people were killed in the attack, though their identities have not yet been released.

The suspect, whose identity has not been confirmed, reportedly barricaded himself on the 33rd floor of the building before taking his own life. Investigators believe the suspect died by suicide after the shootings.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officials are working to determine the sequence of events, the suspect’s background, and any possible connection to the victims or the building.

This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the city, especially among the NYPD and first responder communities, who are once again mourning the loss of one of their own.
