On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, sixteen-year-old Thomas Shupe’s life changed in an instant. Involved in a serious motor vehicle accident, Thomas sustained significant injuries, including trauma to his brain and neck.

He was immediately rushed to Boston Children’s Hospital, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), receiving around-the-clock, specialized care. Despite the severity of his injuries, Thomas is fighting with strength and determination, surrounded by the unwavering love and support of his family.

Thomas, a resident of Greenland, New Hampshire, is a student at Portsmouth High School, where he is known for his warm heart, bright spirit, and dedication to his teammates on the ClipperCats football team.

On and off the field, he has shown perseverance and resilience—qualities he will now need more than ever as he faces what is expected to be a long and challenging road to recovery and rehabilitation.

Thomas’s parents, Jessica and Michael Shupe, are no strangers to facing difficult situations. Jessica serves as a Dispatch Supervisor with the Exeter Police Department, while Michael is a retired New Hampshire State Trooper.

Over the years, they have both committed their lives to public service, working tirelessly to protect and support their community. Now, in the wake of this unimaginable event, it is their family that needs the community’s support.

As Thomas begins his recovery, the focus of the Shupe family is understandably on his care and well-being. Jessica and Michael are at his bedside day and night, advocating for their son and holding on to hope for each small sign of progress.

However, the emotional, physical, and financial toll of such a crisis is immense. Extended stays in the ICU, ongoing treatments, rehabilitation therapies, and the interruption of daily life all come with heavy costs—both seen and unseen.

Friends, neighbors, and community members are coming together to lift some of that burden. A fundraising effort is now underway to assist the Shupe family with mounting medical expenses and necessary living costs.

The goal is to allow Jessica and Michael to fully focus on what matters most: Thomas’s healing and recovery. This moment serves as a powerful reminder of the strength of community.

The Shupes have spent their careers standing by others in moments of need; now, it is our turn to stand by them. Every donation, prayer, and word of encouragement helps ease their load and shows them that they are not alone.

Thomas has a long journey ahead, but he’s not walking it alone. With the support of his family, friends, teammates, and a caring community behind him, there is hope. Together, we can help the Shupes stay strong through this crisis and give Thomas every chance to recover and return to the life he loves.

Those wishing to contribute can do so through the official fundraising channels set up on the family’s behalf. Every bit helps—and every gesture matters.
