We are reaching out to our community with heavy hearts as we share the heartbreaking news of the unexpected passing of Brandon Russell Ropp of Shelby, North Carolina.

Born on December 4, 1996, Brandon left this world far too soon on August 1, 2025, at just 28 years old. His passing was sudden and the result of a tragic accident, leaving his family, friends, and all who knew him in deep sorrow and disbelief.

Brandon was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence was unforgettable. He was known for his bold personality, infectious wit, and the deep well of compassion he often kept hidden beneath a tough exterior. Brandon had a remarkable way of making people feel seen and heard.

He could be fiercely protective, deeply loyal, and unshakably supportive of those he loved. To know him was to experience his unique blend of grit and tenderness. He cherished his children above all else and was immensely proud of his role as a father.

His son, Oaklyn Russell Ropp, and his daughter, “Nellie” Harley Raynell Ropp, were the lights of his life. He also shared a special bond with two young girls who lovingly called him “Bo,” reflecting the impact he had on the lives of others beyond blood ties.

Brandon leaves behind a family who adored him deeply. He is survived by his father, Rusty Ropp, and Rusty’s significant other, Mary Routh; his mother, Bonita Thomas, and her husband, Charles Thomas; and his brother, Austin Ropp, and wife, Taylor Ropp, along with their daughter, Emery Claire Ropp.

He also leaves behind step-siblings Casey, Cutter, and Chance, as well as a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Brandon was on a journey of growth and transformation, focused on building a better life for himself and those he loved.

He was working toward new beginnings, and though his time was cut short, the legacy of his intentions and efforts endures. His courage to change, his dedication to his family, and his unwavering love leave an imprint that cannot be erased.

A celebration of Brandon’s life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home Chapel in Shelby, NC. Family and friends are invited to gather from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM to share stories, offer support, and honor the vibrant life he lived.

In this time of unimaginable grief, we ask for your compassion and assistance. Brandon’s sudden passing has placed a significant emotional and financial burden on his family.
