A tragic hit-and-run crash on the I-15 freeway early Friday morning has claimed the life of 34-year-old Erek I. Brown, a Victorville resident and father of four. The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office confirmed Brown’s identity following the fatal collision, which occurred just before 1:00 a.m. on July 25, 2025, on the northbound I-15 near the truck scales, just south of Highway 138.
According to those close to the family, Brown had reportedly run out of gas and was stranded on the freeway awaiting help when he was struck. His girlfriend was en route to deliver fuel when she arrived at the crash site and discovered that Brown had been involved in a devastating collision. Witnesses say California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were seen consoling her at the scene as emergency responders worked desperately to save Brown’s life.
Crews with the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District arrived quickly and attempted CPR, but despite their efforts, Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
The CHP has classified the crash as a felony hit-and-run. The collision involved Brown’s motorcycle and a gray Scion, which was later found abandoned at the northbound Highway 138 off-ramp. As of Friday morning, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.
Traffic along the I-15 northbound was heavily impacted during the early morning hours, with long backups and a significant emergency presence. By 7:52 a.m., all lanes had reopened and normal traffic flow had resumed.
The loss of Erek Brown has sent shockwaves through the Victorville community, where he is remembered as a loving and devoted father. Social media has been filled with messages of sorrow and support for his grieving family, especially his four young children, who are now left without their father.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate this tragic incident. Anyone with information about the crash or the driver of the gray Scion is urged to contact CHP officials immediately.
As loved ones seek answers and justice, the memory of Erek Brown lives on in the hearts of his family and friends.
