The Minnesota State Patrol has identified the motorcyclist killed in Thursday’s fatal collision involving a pickup truck along U.S. Highway 14 in Olmsted County.

Robert Warren Jackley, 52, of St. Charles, was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson motorcycle westbound on Highway 14 when he collided with a 2021 Chevy Silverado driven by Daniel Lee Dittes, 52, of Maple Grove. The crash occurred around 10:48 a.m. at the intersection with Chester Avenue SE, just east of Rochester.

Authorities say Jackley was pronounced dead at the scene. Dittes, the driver of the pickup truck, was not injured.

The Minnesota State Patrol is continuing its investigation into the cause of the collision. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Fire Department, Eyota Ambulance, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation all responded to the scene and assisted with the incident.

The crash prompted the temporary closure of Highway 14 between Chester and Eyota, though it has since reopened, according to 511MN.

Officials are urging drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant at all intersections, especially in high-speed zones. Further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
